Located in the heart of Maremma, Castello di Vecchienna is a listed historic estate surrounded by unspoiled Mediterranean forests, in a still little known part of Tuscany of an astounding beauty, and is immersed in unspoiled nature, with the rich fauna and flora of the Mediterranean forests.
Perched on a hilltop, the estate resembles a small hamlet, offering sweeping views of rolling hills, the Isle of Elba on the horizon, and unforgettable sunsets.
Founded in the 19th century by François de Larderel, Vecchienna is both a working farm and a heritage site — a place where history, community, and natural beauty come together.
We welcome guests in two types of accommodation:
Podere San Giuseppe, a beautifully restored farmhouse divided into two independent residences — Podere Rosmarino and Podere Ciclamino. Each house offers spacious interiors, private outdoor pergolas, and breathtaking views of the valley and nearby villages. Together, they can host up to 18 guests, making them ideal for families or groups of friends. A swimming pool nestled in the woods is just a short walk away.
Borgo Vecchienna Residences, two recently renovated homes located within the hamlet itself. Carefully restored, they combine authentic Tuscan character — terracotta floors, vaulted ceilings, and wooden beams — with modern comfort. Perfect for couples, families, or small groups seeking an authentic Tuscan experience.
Vecchienna remains a working farm, producing cereals, extra virgin olive oil, and raising Limousine cattle.
All our products carry the Agriqualità label, a guarantee of respect for nature and sustainable farming.
Guests are welcome to discover our farming traditions, taste our olive oil, and learn more about the unique Limousine cattle, a breed renowned for its lean, flavorful meat.
Vecchienna is ideally located just 30 minutes from the Tyrrhenian Sea and its sandy beaches, as well as close to charming medieval villages, natural parks, and hot springs.
Whether you prefer hiking, cycling, exploring Tuscan art cities like Volterra, Massa Marittima, or Siena, or simply enjoying good food and local wine, Vecchienna offers the perfect base for your Tuscan journey.
